I finally made it to the photography day at the Houston Zoo. Rick and his staff at the Houston Zoo did a wonderful job organizing the event. The photography day started off at the Orangutans where the mother and child came out first, followed by the father after. The next stop was Ernie the porcupine. Ernie was raised in captivity at the Houston Zoo and his handler had tought him quite a few tricks. Some of these were waive, turn around and shaking hands. After that was a lecture by Mr. Campbell (former Houston Chronicle photographer). The speaker, Steve Campbell, did an excellent job answering questions and put on a view nice slideshow showing off his photography techniques.
Houston Zoo Photography Day – 2010
February 19th, 2010 Comments Off
Tomorrow the Houston Zoo is having another “Photo Day Series at the Houston Zoo” event. The general gest is that you arrive before all the parents and children, have a continential breakfast at the zoo, speak to zoo employees and other animal photographers, watch the animals being fed, get a few photo ops with selected unique animals and listen to a presentation in the auditorium by a animal photographer. I have not been yet, but plan on going tomorrow. Our membership ends in July, so we are trying to make due.
Last weekend we visited the zoo and took the following photos.

Galveston on the Rocks with a side of Kemah.

A few years back before the storm, I had the chance to visit Galveston often. Galveston, Texas is always a nice place to go to get away from Houstons’ big city life. Unfortunately traffic leaving town on the weekend can get congested, so plan on an early morning departure for best results.
I was shifting through old photos today and ran across these. The skies were quite beautiful.
Hermann Park Photographer

Yesterday was the most perfect day at Hermann Park. The sky was blue above Houston and the weather was just right. I had to come outside and snap this picture. Hopefully this next weekend will be as nice as this last.

Morning Rainbow over Houston – Happy Thanksgiving
November 26th, 2009 Comments Off
First off, Happy Thanksgiving. This photo was not taken today, but two or three days ago.
It is not every day you see a rainbow over a city. The weather conditions were very gritty as you can see from the photo. The day turned out for the best and the week is turning out great!

Memorial City Mall Pet Night with Santa in Houston Texas.
November 24th, 2009 Comments Off
Each year we have pet photos made at the local mall. This year was Memorial City Mall in Houston Texas. While many of the pets attract peoples attention, Udon actually attracts more attention than Santa does. Children will turn around and forget about Santa. Parents whip out their cell phones to take pictures with her and their children. And she takes it in strides.

On October 23rd, 2009, KMFDM played with Anglespit at the Meridian in Houston Texas (1503 Chartres, 77003).
There was a special guest that creates unique pumpkins here in Houston. I had the pleasure of taking his pumpkin photos last year and this year we both lucked out that KMFDM was touring in Houston a week before Halloween.
I was fortunate enough to get to meet the artists, hang out with the band, and watch the show. Sascha and the crew were nice and very down to earth.
Thanks again for the opportunity and enjoy a few of the photos.

At Go Kart World in Carson California, one can find multiple raceway event. They have been there for over 11 years and have 6 race tracks on the grounds. Their tracks range in skill level from children to enthuiastic adults. These tracks include the Super Track, Slick Track, turbo Track, Mini Indy Track, Kiddy Track and the Bumper Cars. Tonights race was on the super track.
The Super track is a two-level figure 8. A third mile longtrack with turns up to 17 feet off the ground.
The Euro Karts can go upwards of 45mph, but tonight the average was about 38mph around the track. While others were racing, I was attending the event with numbers 62 and 67, so I mainly took photos of them.
Enjoy!
